This training session is for volunteers who would like to carry out peatland butterfly and moth surveys on North Northumberland sites this summer, as part of the Making Peatlands Work for Lepidoptera project. These sessions are ideal for those new to peatland butterfly & moth identification and timed count/transect surveys.

We’ll start with an indoor introduction before heading out to Ford Moss to chat about and practice survey methods together. While Large Heath butterflies won’t be out just yet, we will hopefully spot some early season butterflies and moths, including Green Hairstreak and Emperor Moth, if the weather is on our side!

For further information and to register your interest in attending, please contact Charlotte (Project Officer) via email –crankin@butterfly-conservation.org
