The Bowsden Village Hall AGM was held on Saturday 20th May 2023

Four members of the Committee retired after serving as Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Health & Safety Officer. Suzy Smith stepped down after leading the Committee for a year and guiding the hall through two of its biggest and most successful events so far, the Queen’s Jubilee and the Coronation event.

Tom Brewis held the position of Treasurer for four years during one of the most challenging periods which saw the hall closed for many months due to the Covid Pandemic. During that time the hall Committee was grateful for the support of Northumberland County Council whose Community Covid Grant scheme helped to ensure the financial future of the hall when it was unable to hold events or earn any income. Mainly due to the Committee’s successful financial management, the future of the hall was financially secured for the ongoing benefit of the community.

Pamela Brewis also served on the Committee for four years and simultaneously held the posts of Secretary, Events Secretary and website and Facebook coordinator. She will continue to manage the website and Facebook page until a new volunteer is found to take over.

Malcolm Davis-White was the Health and Safety and Maintenance Officer on the Committee and he also joined during the challenging time of Covid when all management meetings were held by Zoom. He used the period when the hall was closed and some of the Covid Grant money to address many of the outstanding maintenance issues that were long overdue.

Four new members joined the Committee:

Emma Anderson – Chair

Carole Hogan- Treasurer

Karen Blake – Secretary

Ritchie Blake – Events Secretary

Three existing members continue to serve on the Committee:

Graeme Reavley

John Sim

Sue Sim

We want to thank all those, past, present and future who give their time voluntarily to managing the hall and ensuring the continued success of our most valued and vibrant village meeting space.
